Scope for New Economy
Great scopes are there for Information Technology Services Esp. For Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and IT Export in Thanjavur City.
Since the Time of British Thanjavur City famous for its Best Educational System which is second best to Trinelveli.

South India's First English College:
The City's St. Peter’s school established by Rev. C. F. Schwartz in 1784. This is the first school in India in which English was taught to Indians. Wide spread of European Aided Roman Catholic Institution across the City. The City population enriched with Neutral Accent of English.

Technically Skilled Resources:
Engineering and Technical Institution/Colleges started spreading since 1980's, there are three Technical Universities including SASTRA, Periyar Maniyammai, PRIST and Plenty of Engineering Colleges in the City now generating adequate resources in Information Technology & Cross Skilled Engineering Technology Areas.

Scopes there for implementing Agro, Food Processing, Packaging based industries, distilleries, breweries in and around the City is very much bright.

In Highways connecting Madurai via Pudukkottai, Kumbakonam via Papanasam, Pattukkottai via Orathanadu small towns are some ideal places for establishing Agro/Food based industries in Thanjavur City.

Current Status & Future Scope
Due to poor attention and industrial planning, Thanjavur is lack in old and new Economy industries now. But great scope for Implementing/Starting Industries in Large scale withCheap Labor, Cheap Land Cost, Adequate Infrastructure and Cheap Skilled Work Force.
